Hon. George Wheatland of Salem, Massachusetts died yesterday at his home from old age. He graduated from Harvard at the age of eighteen and afterwards studied law with the late Leverett Saltonstall. He was always active in public life, and devoted to his profession in which he had amassed a great fortune. Mr. Wheatland served in the Salem Common Council in 1841 and in the board of Aldermen in 1842-43. He was a brother of Dr. Henry Wheatland, the president of the Essex Institute.
