In Sever 11, this evening, Hon. Edward Blake, M. P., Vice Chancellor of the Toronto University, will give an address under the auspices of the Canadian Club, on the Home Rule Question in Ireland. Mr. Blake is of Irish extraction, received his elementary education in the schools of Toronto and later entered the Toronto University where he was graduated with distinction. For some years he practised law previous to entering the Legislature of Ontario. There he took a prominent position as a leader of the Reform Party. In 1871 he became premier of Ontario and soon after he was elected to the Dominion Parliament. In 1873 he was chosen Minister of Justice for the Dominion in the Cabinet of the late Alexander McKenzie. In July last, he was elected by an Irish constituency to Parliament. Mr. Blake's long experience in public affairs lies through acquaintance with the Federal system of government and his present position renders him peculiarly fitted to speak on the subject he has chosen.
