Tiffany & Co. have just finished the "University Track Athletic Cup," for which Harvard and Yale are to compete during the next eight years. It is a sterling silver vase of Grecian design. It stands 16 inches high, and around the neck is the inscription, "University Track Athletic Cup." The decorations on the body represent the participants in the ancient contests for the laurel-wreath which is held aloft by the goddess of victory. The herald stands with his trumpet to his mouth and announces the winner. "Athlonika" is inscribed upon the body and there is also palm branch and seals of Harvard and Yale.
Nine laurel wreaths decorate the reverse side and every year the name of the victorious university will be engraved in each. There is also a large wreath in which the name of the final winner is to be placed.
A "Record Book" has also been prepared. It is bound in pig skin and has on the cover "The University Track Athletic Cup." On the first page is the title and the inscription: "For the encouragement of track athletics and to foster a friendly rivalry between the students of the two universities in track and field athletics." The pages which follow contain the "deed of gift," the names of the donors, etc., and blank spaces for keeping the records of the contests.
