The Roxbury Latin School Games.

A large crowd, including many ladies, spent yesterday afternoon in the Technology Gymnasium on Exeter St. watching the annual meeting of the Roxbury Latin School. There were eight events and Harvard had a representative in four of these, the running high jump, two twenty yards dashes and the pole vault.

Fearing was the only Harvard man in the running high jump, and as Green failed to put in appearance. He had little difficulty in clearing the bar at 6.00 7-8 and thus won the event from Dunning R. L. S., who had a handicap of eight inches. Fearing then had the bar put at 6.02 7-8, which was 5-8 higher than the indoor record. He had cleared this on his third trial when his arm unfortunately struck the stick and brought it to the floor. The attempt showed that the record would not remain long unbroken.

The twenty yards dash was run in six heats. O. W. Shead '93 won the second, E. D. Bloss '94, the fourth, and G. R. Fearing '93, the fifth. The time of each heat was 3 1-5 seconds. In the finals of the dash the contestants were all Harvard men-Blow, Fearing and Shead. Bloss ran away from his competitors and won the last handicap in just three seconds, Shead was second.

In the pole vault H. M. Wheelwright '94 represented Harvard. There were three other contestants. Dunning R. L. S. won the event and Wheelwright was second with an actual vault of 9 1-2 feet.

The meeting lasted about three hours and comprised, in addition to these events, rope climbing, running high kick, standing high jump and trial heats of the dash. In addition to the Harvard men there were representatives from the B. A. A., Technology and one or two local schools. R. S. Hale '91, and G. L. Batchelder '92, were judges, while Mr. Lathrop timed the events.
