The following appeared in the Yale News for Wednesday last:

To Yale University Boat Club.

E. H. FLOYD - JONES, President.

Owing to circumstances over which I have no control, I hereby tender my resignation as captain of the Yale Crew.

J. AVERY GOULD.No editorial comment is made in the News upon the action of Mr. Gould and the reasons for his resignation are not publicly known. Mr. Gould is in Ninety-two of the Sheffield Scientific School. He stroked last year's Yale crew, it being his first year in the 'varsity boat.
