In response to the call issued by Captain Kelton, the candidates for the University crew met last night in the trophy room of the gymnasium. Of last year's eight, Kelton, Vail, Rantoul, Newell, Powers, Cummings and Jones were present. Lynam was not at the meeting but will row.

The other candidates were not many but several have rowed in their class crews. The new men are mostly mature, of good weight, and Captain Kelton regarded the material as very promising.

The following is a list of the men present besides those who were not on the crew last year: D. B. Ninde, '93, 160 lbs.; H. F. Atkins, L.S., 166; C. Slade, '93, 165; C. S. Hickman, L.S., 168; C. T Bond, '94 167; B. G. Waters, '94, 175; C. B. Pike, '93. 157; R. J. Forsythe, '94, 170; W. M. Weed, '92; 167; Geo. E. Burgess, '93, 160; H. Bartholomav. Jr., L. S., 171.

The candidates will begin on Monday with light work and keep this up until the spring season fairly opens.

Just before the meeting of candidates the annual election of the boat club was held and the following officers were chosen: President, W. C. Forbes, '92; vice-president, G. B. Pierce, '93; secretary, D. O Earle, '93; treasurer and manager, S. C. Davis, '93.
