Base Ball.

The rain drizzled down throughout the nine innings yesterday while the freshman nine scored six runs to two of the Brown '95 team. About twenty-five or thirty Ninety-five men sat on the bleachers and cheered encouragingly when the plays deserved applause.

The game lasted but an hour and a quarter and is probably the shortest one that has taken place in Cambridge for many years. This is doubtless owing to the very quick work in the third, sixth and eighth innings, during which Reed, the '95 pitcher, delivered just ten balls, which were easily fielded and the men put out in the one, two, three order. The fielding at other times was, however, very weak. Cassatt was very unsteady at short-stop, but during the latter part of the game improved and showed that he had no business to make such costly errors, each of them letting in a run for Brown. Harvard's batting, with one exception, also showed some signs of falling off from the standard which the last two or three games have established. McAdams, however, made two strong drives beyond centre, netting him two home runs, and bringing in all together, four runs.

Reed and McAdams were the battery for Harvard, White and Cooke for Brown. Reed was hit often but not safely, holding the opponents down to five hits. McAdams stopped the ball well, but was rather slow in throwing to second.

Harvard made four of her runs in the first inning. Cassatt started off with a single, stole second and reached third on a passed ball. Meanwhile Rogers was given a base on balls, stole second and took third on an error by short stop, while Cassatt came home. This same error gave Dreyfus a chance to reach first. Then with Rogers and Dreyfus on bases, McAdams made his home run, adding three more to the score. The fifth run was gotten by a single, a steal, and two errors, while in the next inning McAdams knocked his second home run.

Brown's runs were made in the second and fourth innings, the first by a base hit, a steal, and an error by short stop; the second by a hit, followed by errors by left field and short stop.
