An undergraduate committee made up of about twelve men from each class is about to make a canvass of the college to raise $10,000 to establish a fund in memory of the late George William Sawin. This fund will be held in trust for the following purposes: 1, The income to be paid to the mother of the late George W. Sawin during her life; 2, after her death, the income to maintain a George W. Sawin instructorship or fellowship in Harvard university, the incumbent to be by preference a student of mathematics. Mr. Henry M. Spelman, 50 State St., Boston, Mass., will act as treasurer of the fund.
