The Lowell School of Practical Design, in its announcement for the coming year gives evidence of a very prosperous condition of affairs. The school occupies a drawing room and weaving room in the building of the Institute of Technology on Garrison street. The expenses of the school are borne by the Lowell Institute and tuition is free to pupils. The course is of three years' duration and embraces, 1, technical manipulations; 2, copying and variations of designs; 3, original designs or composition of patterns; 4, the making of working drawings, and finishing of designs. Instructions are given personally to each student with occasional general exercises. A good knowledge of drawing is required for admission.
