About forty candidates for the Mott Haven team were present at the meeting held yesterday afternoon. Captain Sturgis said that the object of the meeting was to impress upon the men that it was now time to begin active training. The track is ready for use, and Mr. Lathrop will be there daily between 11 and 1, and 3.30 and 5 It is important that every man should train regularly, and a record of attendance will be kept. Every candidate will also have to register daily in the gymnasium the number of hours of sleep which he had the proceeding night. In closing, Capt. Sturgis called attention to the fact that the Mott Haven, unlike other athletic teams, is not composed of a set number of men; every candidate has therefore a good chance of getting on the team, and precedence will be given to those who are the most regular in their work.
