Chess Tournament.

A blue-book has been placed at Bartlett's for entries for the annual fall tournament. The entrance fee is fifty cents. Entries must be made before six o'clock Saturday evening, Oct, 9. All chess players in the University and especially those of the Freshman class are urged to compete. From the winners of this tournament are chosen the Harvard representatives for the annual intercollegiate chess tournament, in which Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Columbia take part. Besides this, about ten men with the highest tournament standing are put on the Harvard chess team, which plays frequent matches throughout the year.

In the intercollegiate tournaments Harvard has won three successive victories-the best score of any of the colleges, but several of last year's men are no longer available, and in order to maintain the good record some hard work must be done by the club this fall.
