"PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 2.- Dr. Edmund J. James, professor in the University of Pennsylvania, has been offered the chair of Political economy in Harvard University. Professor James, one of the best known of the young American economists, was born in Illinois in 1855. After an extensive course of college and university study in the West and East he went to Europe, where he took the doctor's degree at the University of Halle in Prussia."
