Yale's New Captain.

Thomas L. McClung '92, of Knoxville, Tenn., who has just been unanimously chosen captain of the Yale football team for next year, has been distinguished in athletics ever since he entered Exeter in the tall of 1884. In that fall and the next he played fullback and half-back on his class team. The next two years he was half-back on the Academy eleven, and proved himself to be one of the most brilliant backs Exeter ever had. He played in the games in which Exeter beat Andover 26-0, and 44-4. Besides his football prowess at Exeter, he was catcher on the Academy nine for four years and captained it in his senior year. He, moreover, was one of the best tennis players Exeter had, and several times represented his school in the tournaments against Andover.

When he went to Yale in the fall of '88 he immediately secured a position as half-back on the University eleven, captained by Corbin, and did creditable work the whole season, aiding actively in the game when Princeton was defeated 10 0. Last year he had a like position, and this season he played half back again. His work was marvelously fine throughout the fall. He has been on the nine also at Yale for two springs, playing in both the infield and outfield.
