Mr. Hayes's Reading.

A fair audience assembled in Sanders Theatre last evening to listen to a programme of miscellaneous reading by Mr. J. J. Hayes.

"The Story of Little Dombey" was followed by "Brother Anderson's Sermon," which was the history of a colored prayer meeting.

The Forum scene from Julius Caesar was listened to with the deepest interest and took remarkably well. It was easily Mr. Hayes's best rendering and was well executed.

The comic Irish sketch of "Father Phil's Collection," was a bright and clever piece and afforded the reader many opportunities which were availed of. "A Senator Entangled" and "The Fourth of July Celebration at Jonesville" were, as their titles announce, American caricatures. The latter closed the entertainment.
