Assistant Professor Cohn of the French department has received letters from the French Minister of Public Education commissioning him to make a study of the organization of universities in the United States, with especial regard to the mode of appointment, recruiting and salaries of their professors. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has also written to the diplomatic and consular agents of France in this country directing them to assist Mr. Cohn in the performance of the duty imposed upon him.
