The 'Varsity eleven will play Wesleyan on Jarvis Field this afternoon at half past three o'clock. The Wesleyan team is probably stronger than any eleven Harvard has played so far this season. The rushers are strong, heavy men and play an aggressive game throughout. In the first game with Yale they held the Yale line so well that it was not until near the close of the second half that Yale succeeded in scoring. In the second game Yale had greatly improved in her play but could defeat the Middletown men by a score of only 34-0. In the Wesleyan line Leo has been playing a very strong game at end-rush. Hildreth and Bickford have also been doing good work. Back of the line the visitors will present two men well known to most Harvard football enthusiasts. Slayback, the captain of the team, is one of the strongest rushing half-backs in the country. He runs very swiftly, goes through the line well and is an exceedingly hard man to stop. Hall, at full-back, is kicking in better form than ever, and when he is sent against the line his weight seldom fails to make an appreciable impression.
Captain Cumnock will play the following team: Rushers, Cumnock or Fearing, Upton, Shaw, Cranston, Blanchard, Newell, '94, Hallowell; quarter-back, Dean; half-backs, Sherwin and Lake; full-back, Trafford.
The freshman eleven will play the Cambridge Manual Training School team, champions of the Junior Interscholastic League, on Norton's field. Ninety-four will present the following team: Rushers, Ladd, Beals, Saltonstall, Mackie, Fay, McDaniel, Wrenn; quarter-back, Gardner; half-backs, Waters and Gage; full-back, Garrison,
A combination team, composed of members of the sophomore and second eleven, will go to Andover to play the Phillips Academy eleven. It will probably be made up as follows: rushers, Dibblee, Cary, McDonald, Bartlett, Shea, Ellsworth, Miller; quarter-back, Malone; half-backs, Parker and Robb; full-back, Blagden. Hand, Rogers and Callamore will also go, and may have places on the team.
