"The City Directory," which had its first representation at the Tremont last night, is a farce, pure and simple. It pretends to be nothing more, but for its kind is excellent. The numerous situations and incidents of the play which arise from the commonness of the name "Smith" are extremely laughable. The principal roles are acceptably filled by Charles Reed, John Jennings, Marguerite Fish, and other tolerably clever comedians.
