The biggest milestone of the 1988-89 Harvard hockey season was, of course, the NCAA championship--Harvard's first since the golf team won in 1904.
But there were many more milestones passed and records broken during the course of the championship season. Here are some of the most notable:
. The Crimson broke a slew of team records, including most wins (31), goals (191), assists (333) and points (524) in a season, most ECAC regular-season wins (20) and best winning percentage (.912).
. Harvard captured its first Beanpot since 1981. Before this season, the Crimson had not made it past the 'Pot semifinals for seven seasons.
. Five forwards shattered the 50-point barrier: Peter Ciavaglia (63), Captain Lane MacDonald (60), C.J. Young (55), Allen Bourbeau (54) and Ted Donato (51).
. MacDonald became the third Crimson player to win the Hobey Baker Award, given to the nation's top collegiate hockey player.
. MacDonald finished his career with 111 goals--good for the Harvard record. He is also second on the all-time Crimson scoring list with 225 points. Senior Allen Bourbeau holds sixth place on that list with 155 points.
