Harvard, 6; Worcester, 3.

Harvard played by far the best game of the season yesterday afternoon on Holmes field with the professional nine from Worcester. The day was excellent and well suited for base ball. The university team wore for the first time the new uniform of gray trousers, crimson shirt and crimson cap with the monogram H. U. B. B, C, worked upon it. It is the best looking uniform the nine has had for years. Downer pitched for Harvard and played the best game he has yet played. His work in the box was excellent. Worcester was able to get only three one-base hits, and only three men got first base on called balls. Henshaw backed him up well. Dean on second did good work making five assists and one put out; his batting was not up to his average. The worst part of Harvard's playing was the base running. In this Worcester was far ahead, as is shown by the fact that eight Harvard and only two Worcester men got out on bases. One of the most brilliant plays was made by Mumford in the fourth inning, when he stopped a hot liner and by a remarkable throw put Daniels out at first. Henshaw caught a long and foul which put Meister out in the sixth. Harvard's work at the bat was very creditable; the result shows eight hits with a total of eleven and only four struck out. The Worcester team did not play as well as it is the last game of a long trip. The umpiring was satisfactory. Appended is the score:
