The first special reports in History XII. will be due on April 1.

Professor B. O. Pierce has been obliged to give up his college duties on account of ill-health.

R. Calkins, '90 has opened a free arithmetic class at his room, 47 Thayer ball. It will be held on Wednesdays at 4.30 p. m. All interested are cordially invited.

For several weeks to come, the lectures in N. H. 3, will be devoted to flowering or phaneorganic plants.

An effort is to be made to establish professional baseball in England this summer. The professional football players will be taught the game.

Those who take History 17, and wish keys for the Evans library in University can on depositing twenty-five cents obtain them of Mr. Williams, assistant in the course.

The Cornell athletic club has decided to hold two meetings this year. The first one will be held on Washington's birthday, and will be devoted to boxing, wrestling, and fencing. The second meeting will take place on March 1.

The Yale Bicycle club held a meeting Monday night to take action on Harvard's challenge, but so few men were present that it was impossible to do anything. An effort will be made by those who are interested to get men together for a future meeting.

There is some danger that Roberts college, the American school at Constantinople, will be closed on account of the hostility of the grand vizier. His hostility is caused by his belief that the young Turks who are educated there go out into the world with very liberal ideas antagonistic to the government methods and theories.

The candidates for the Yale sophomore crew have been reduced to fifteen men. The men and their weights are as follows: Jones, 165 pounds; Swayne 156, Haskell 165. Hauslein 163, Hilton 147, Williams 161, Hosmer 158, Bronson 164, Gregory 162, Hume 156. In addition to these men Balliet, Klimpke and Heffelfinger are rowing with the 'varsity crew.

Captain Allen of the Yale crew on Monday dropped four men from the list of candidates for the 'varsity crew thus reducing the number of men now in training to 11. From these eight and two substitutes will be chosen. The men now at work are: Allen '90, Gill '89, Brewster '90, Balliet '92, Klimpke '92, Ferris '91, Heffelfinger '92, Newell, '90, Harrison '90, Rogers '90, and Simms '90. The candidates will go to the training table March 1.
