Yale Records Broken.

The annual games of the Yale Athletic association were held Tuesday afternoon on the Yale field. Three Yale records were broken at this meeting, the half-mile record of 2 minutes, 3 2-5 seconds being lowered to 2 minutes, and 3 seconds, and that of the two-mile bicycle race froce from 6 minutes, 24 2-5 seconds, to 6 minutes, 21 seconds. In the pole vault, Shearman, '89, instead of lowering the record, raised it from 10 feet, 3 5-8 inces, to 10 feet, 5 inches. Perfect weather and a good track combined to make the meeting one of unusual interest, all of the events being closely contested, especially the bicycle race, half-mile run, and the 120 yards hurdle. Below is given the list of events and winners:

One hundred yards-C. H. Sheriil, Jr., '89; time 10 1-5 seconds. F. W. Robinson '89, second by three inches. Sherrill got a poor start, but caught his man at fifty yards and had a very exciting finish with Robinson.

Two-mile bicycle race-F. A. Clark '89; time, 6 minutes, 21 seconds; A. F. Kountze '91, a close second. The men were bunched throughout and all of the contestants finished inside of the Yale record.

One hundred and twenty yards hurdle-N. L. Deming '90, time 17 2-5 seconds; H. L. Willams '91, a very close second.

Four hundred and forty yards run-F. W. Robinson '90, time 53 4-5 seconds. Robinson finished the last thirty-five yards in a jog trot, looking back for his contestants.

One mile run-W. Harmar '90, time 4 minutes, 41 4-5 seconds; won easily; J. P. Lloyd, Jr., '91, second.

One-mile walk-R. M. Raymond '91, time 7 minutes, 40 seconds.

Two hundred and twenly yards hurdle-H. L. Williams '91, time 27 4-5 seconds; S. H. Pearce '91, a good second.

Half-mile run-E. B. Hinckley '89, time 2 minutes, 3 seconds; E. P. Holton '90, second by two inches. The finish was very exciting. Hinckley ran the first quarter in 58 seconds, taking a lead of twenty yards, but on the home stretch he tired badly, and Holton would have beaten him out in two strides further.
