The first concert of the Freshman Glee Club was given last Friday evening at 99 Newbury street, Boston. The programme was as follows:
1. "A wet sheet and flowing sea."
2. "Vineta."
3. "Thou art my own love." -C. N. Porter and Glee Club.
4. "Skating Song." Yodel.- R. Whitman and double quarter.
5. "Skippers of St. Ives." -L. F. Berry and Glee Club.
6. "Lullaby."
7. "Capital Ship," -L. F. Berry and Glee Club.
8. "Schneider's Band." -Double Quarter.
9. "Lizette."
10. "The Quaker," (Arr. by E. H. Jackson, '92). -L. F. Berry and Glee Club.
11. "Imogene Donahue." -E. White and Glee Club.
12. "We want a drink," Yodel. -R. Whitman and Glee Club.
13. "Fair Harvard."
The selections were well rendered and the enthusiasm of the audience required encores to nearly every piece.
The club's work deserves commendation, and notwithstanding the fact that there were many points in which improvement might have been made, the first concert showed conclusively that faithful and careful work has been done. Despite its recent success, however, the club needs to do much rehearsing before its next concert, which occurs on April 15 in Melrose.
The solos of Messrs. Berry and Porter, and the yodeling of Mr. Whitman won well merited applause.
