The Harvard Electrical club met last evening at their newly furnished rooms in the Lawrence scientific school, to listen to a paper by Mr. Perot on "Electric Lights." The regular business meeting of the club was attended to for about an hour. Mr. Lawton was chosen temporary chairman and reported the resignation of both the vice presidents. Nominations for vice presidents resulted in the names of Messrs. Wilkinson, Chittenden. Greenleaf, Bailey, Johnson and Lewis, from whom Chittenden and Lewis were elected. After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and accepted there was a report of several committees. The following men were voted in as new members: Scudder, Wirts, Dudley, Bates, Smith. Mr. Perot was then introduced as the speaker of the evening. He gave a short description of the principles of the are and incandescent lights, illustrating them by diagrams on the black board. He also gave a minute description of how the carbons, which are used in the are system, are manufactured, and passed around specimens for the audience to examine. After the lecture there was a general talk on electric lights by the members of the club. Notice was given that Professor Trowbridge will give a lecture under the auspices of the club to the students of the university some time next week.
