Petition for Electric Lights in the Library.

The following circular will be sent tomorrow morning to every member of the faculty. instructor and student in the college. The editorial in this morning's issue will explain more fully the reason for starting the petition:-

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 14, 1889.

Dear Sir:- The editors of the CRIMSON, convinced of the desire among the instructors and students of Harvard College to have the Library lighted during the evening, and confident that the Corporation will think favorably of the plan if it is brought directly before their notice, ask your co-operation in presenting the following petition to the Corporation:

"We, the undersigned, members of Harvard University, thinking that the Library ought to be open during the evening, as well as during the day, for the use of those desiring to study there, do hereby petition the Corporation to put electric lights in the library at their earliest opportunity."

As the success of the petition depends upon a full expression of opinion from all who are connected with the college-members of the faculty, instructors and students alike-will you have the kindness to answer immediately the enclosed postal card affirmatively or negatively as you see fit?
