The Yale News published the following notice in its last issue:-

"Various accounts of the action of the faculty in regard to athletics have appeared in the city papers, but the following official notice has been handed us for publication and will explain itself:-

'MAY 31, 1888.

By vote of the faculty, hereafter the programme of athletic contests shall be submitted to the faculty at the opening of each season, spring and fall, by the officers of the respective organizations; and no athletic contest shall be allowed until the programme has been approved, under such conditions as the faculty may prescribe.'
