8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
The trustees of Union College, after a long delay during which the college rapidly lost the position it formerly held, have elected Prof. Harrison E. Webster, instructor in geology and natural history in the University of Rochester, to the presidency. Prof. Webster graduated at Union in 1868, and was a tutor and instructor at that college until 1883. He then went to Rochester. He was the favorite candidate among the students, and his election was received with great delight. On the arrival of the new president in Schenectady last Wednesday evening he was met by the students in a body and escorted to the campus while the college bell was rung, the college cheer given and a great bonfire kindled. The ability which Prof. Webster has already shown gives assurance of a successful administration, and it is expected that Union College which has been famous in the past, will win back its old popularity in the future under the hand of the new president.
