The freshmen met the sophomores yesterday on Jarvis, and met with their first defeat, Ninety-one's change battery was put in and did fairly well, but the game was lost by the weak batting of the freshmen. Ninety led until the eighth inning when Ninety-one made three runs on two hits and several bases on balls. At the beginning of the ninth, things looked dark for the sophomores, but they managed to bunch several hits and, by the aid of Babbit's excusable passed balls, brought their score up to seven. The freshmen were shut out in the ninth. Bates and Slade did the only heavy batting. The score:-
