The Shooting Club.

The annual fall meeting of the Shooting Club was held last night in 41 Matthews and the following officers were elected for the coming year: President, G. N. Lamb, '91, vice-president. R. H. Post, '91; executive officer, W. F. Beal, '93; secretary, T. Everett, '91; treasurer, C. B. Pike, '91; captain, J. M. MacKay, '92: directors-from '91 M. Luce; from '92, J. M. Mackay; from '93, E. M. Weld.

The club enters upon the new year with unusually bright prospects. Just before the close of last year it moved into its new grounds which are situated by the new Soldiers' Field, close to the river and only five minutes' walk from Harvard Square. Formerly the members of the club were obliged to go to Watertown for their shoot, but the land for the present place was obtained, and the new club house built and fitted out last spring by special effort on the part of the club. Matches are shot with Yale every year; Harvard has won two out of the three that have thus far been contested. Other matches with local clubs are arranged throughout the year, besides the regular weekly, monthly and class matches. At the weekly matches first and second prizes of silver cups are given, and at the monthly match the Founders' cup is shot for and kept by the winner until the next match, and permanently if won four times in succession or eight times altogether.

The club intends to make the coming year as successful as possible. Many of the best shots graduated last year, however, and all shooting men in college, and especially freshmen are urged to join the club. So far the club has made a good showing for Harvard in the matches, and the management is anxious that '94 men should keep up the record and try for the 'varsity and class teams.
