The University of Pennsylvania has the plans and money for a theatre and hall for commencement exercises. Here performances of classic plays, such as the "Acharnians," the Greek play which the students produced in May, 1886, with success, will be given.

Athletic exercise receives careful attention. It is believed that while the body should keep pace with the mind, the exercise of the body ought to be conducted under specific rules. The training of students in this department is intrusted to the gentleman who originated it, Dr. J. William White. A splendidly appointed gymnasium and ample grounds are provided as accessories.

The first annual meeting of the College Athletic Association promises to be decidedly interesting. Nine of the Philadelphia papers have volunteered to give the first prizes, which will be handsome gold medals.- N. Y. Herald.
