8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
The annual statement of the Sheffield Scientific School for 1887-8 has just appeared. It is an interesting pamphlet of about sixty pages and shows clearly the progress of the school. The number of students has increased from 279 to 282, the gain being in the undergraduate department, the number of specials and post-graduates remaining about the same. The circular of the graduate department is more extended, showing a steady growth, and the list of laboratories, collections, etc., shows what means are placed at the disposal of students in chemistry, zoology and engineering. At the close of the volume is a complete set of the examination papers given at the examinations last June and September. The professorship of analytical chemistry and metallurgy, recently occupied by Prof. Oscar D. Allen, is at present vacant.
