Saturday afternoon Harvard defeated the Shoe and Leather nine, of Boston, on Holmes Field, by a score of 15 to 2. Harvard batted heavily and fielded fairly. Smith and Henshaw were Harvard's battery, and made a good showing. Nichols and Phillips led the batting. Phillips and Smith did the best work in the field. The Shoe and Leather nine succeeded in getting only three scattering hits off Smith. McAloon was the only man of the opposing nine, who did any good work.
