HARVARD UNIVERSITY, Cambridge, Mass., Nov. 26, 1887.
To Mr. H. G. Foster, President Yale Freshman Boat Club.
DEAR SIR:- Some time since, Captain Bishop, Harvard '91, was directed to acknowledge the receipt from Yale '91 of a challenge to an eight-oared shell race, with coxswains, two miles straightaway, to be rowed at New London, date to be settled later on.
Captain Bishop was also to state to you that an answer would be sent on the 16th inst. Accordingly at a meeting of the Governing Committee on Rowing, which was held last night, it was unanimously voted that the challenge from Yale '91 to Harvard '91 be not accepted.
