The Instructors of the College have received the following communication from the Dean.

At the last meeting of the Faculty the following votes were passed: -

1. That the returns for the present Senior class be made on the percentage scale, and that their degrees be awarded in accordance with the Regulations of 1885.

2. That the past returns of the present Junior and Sophomore classes be converted to the new scale in according with the following rules:

Grade A to include all having 90 per cent or over,

Grade B to include all having at least 78 per cent and less than 90.

Grade C to include all having at least 60 per cent and less than 78,

Grade D to include all who pass with less than 60 per cent,

provided, however, that the instructor in any course may assign the students in that course to the grades of the new scale at his discretion.

If you desire to use the discretion here given, you are requested to report to the Secretary, before February 1, what exceptions you wish to be made in the application of the above rules.

The enclosed rank-lists for 1884 85 and 1885 86 contain the returns for all students in your courses whose marks were not less than 70 per cent. The returns for the rest - in case you have kept no record yourself - may be found at the office.
