The second semi-annual dinner of the Harvard California Club took place last Friday evening.

The '88 members of the Everett Athenaeum dined at the Quincy House Friday evening.

The classical club will meet at the house of Prof. Smith, 64 Sparks Street, on Wednesday, April 28 at 8 p.m.

There are several promising candidates for the mile run. Fair time for the season has already been made.

The spring concert of the Yale Glee Club and Pierian Sodality will take place on Wednesday, May 19th.

The following men have been elected honorary members of the Institute of 1770 from '88: McCleary, Mitchell, Loeb, Dane and Peale.

The substitutes for junior themes will be written by those members of the class who have elected an English composition course and will be due May first.

The item in yesterday's columns about the date of the Harvard-New York lacrosse game was incorrect. The game will be played on May 15, not May 1.

The freshman ball game at Southboro on Saturday was called on account of rain at the end of the third inning. The score then stood 8 to 1 in favor of the freshmen.

On Saturday, after the Bowdoin game the customary cheers were not given for the Harvard nine. It is understood that the omission was intentional.

Prof. A. S. Hill will confer with any senior or junior wishing to compete for the Boylston prizes, on either Tuesday or Wednesday next between 3 and 4 p.m. in Sever 1.

The next thesis, due a week from Wednesday in English VIII, will be upon Matthew Arnold. Subject recommended; A discussion of Mr. Arnold either as a man or as a poet.

Rev. Washington Gladden, the well known writer on social problems and distinguished preacher, is to give an address in Appleton Chapel to the students on Sunday evening May 9th.

The New Yorks defeated the Yales Friday, by a score of 15 to 3. Stagg made three wild pitches and Dann had six passed balls. The New York Times says that Yale must improve in her batting in order to defeat Harvard or Princeton.

The Inter-Collegiate Base-Ball Association was organized in December, 1879. During the first season Yale was not a member of the Association, and in 1883, Dartmouth dropped out for one year. The number of games won and lost by each college since the beginning of the league is as follows:
