The freshmen held a class meeting last evening in Holden Chapel, president Trafford in the chair, to take decisive action in regard to the class crew's finaces and the sending of the crew to New London. Manager Cullinan made a statement of the present condition of the crew's finances, and declared that according to the estimate which has been approved by the University treasurer, at least one thousand dollars must be collected or pledged immediately. R. F. Herrick, '90, spoke concerning the nature of the necessary expenses of running the crew, and declared that the crew would be carried on as economically as possible. He urged the class to support the crew, and said that the athletic committee strongly advise the immediate collection of the necessary funds.
It was voted-That the class support the freshman crew and provide the funds necessary to send it to New London. Also-That unpaid subscriptions be paid immediately. Also-That the president be empowered to appoint extra collectors to get cash and promises to pay within ten days, said collectors to report before Saturday night.
