The following course of free lectures is to be given on Friday evenings in the Old South Church, under the auspices of the Massachusetts Tariff Reform League. The lectures will begin at 8 o'clock P. M.
Jan 16. Prof. W. G. Sumner of Yale College: "The Proposition to make Protection a Permanent Policy.
Jan. 23. J. B. Sargent of New Haven, manufacturer of hardware: The Tariff from the Standpoint of an American Manufacturer."
Jan. 30. Dr. F. W. Taussig of Harvard University: "The History of the Existing Tariff."
Feb 6. William G. Gibbons of the Pusey and Jones Company. Ship Builders, Wilmington, Del: "The Effect of the Tariff upon American Shipping."
Feb. 20. Howard M. Newhall of Lynn: "The Effect of the Tariff upon the Boot and Shoe Industry."
As may be seen by a glance at the above list of subjects, this course of lectures will be one of the utmost interest to students of Political Economy, and doubtless many Harvard men will be glad to avail themselves of the privilege thus offered.
