THE AMHERST NINE.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Amherst College nine for this season is made up as follows : Taylor, '84, captain and s s.; Hunt, '85, c.; Harris, '85, p.; Gardner, '84, 1b.; Williams '85, 2b.; Hamlin, '83, 3b.; Stuart, '86, l. f.; Kimball, '85, c.f.; Warren, '83, r.f.; Buffum, '84, substitute. The nine has had systematic practice in the gymnasium during most of the winter, consisting principally of pitching, catching, throwing, running and Indian club swinging. Out-door practice on the campus began Friday April 13th, and there will be daily practice at 2 P. M. on the new athletic field, which will shortly be in good condition for use. Games arranged for April are, 21st with Pine Streets of Holyoke, 25th and 28th with Westfield Firemen. The chances of the faculty's rescinding its action on inter-collegiate sports are very fair.

AMHERST, APRIL 16, 1883.
