Dr. James E. Rhoads, of Philadelphia, was last Saturday elected President of Bryn Mawr College by the trustees, and Martha Carey Thomas, of Baltimore, Dean of the faculty and Professor of English. The institution will be opened to students in the autumn of 1885, and will adopt standards of admission and instruction equal to the highest in existing colleges for women in this country. Dr. Rhoads was named in the will of Dr. Joseph W. Taylor, the founder of Bryn Mawr College, as one of its trustees, and still holds that position. Martha Carey Thomas holds the degree of Ph.
