FOOT-BALL CONVENTION.

The annual meeting of the Inter-collegiate Foot-ball Association was held Wednesday at the Fifth Avenue Hotel in New York. The meeting was called to order by Pres. Thompkins of Yale and showed the following delegates present: Yale, Camp and Tompkins; Columbia, Griffith and Simpkins; Princeton, Peace, Look, Bird and Moffat. The championship was awarded to Yale. Mr. Camp was authorized to have the rules printed and copyrighted. Mr. Appleton stated the position of the Harvard faculty in regard to foot-ball. The following changes were made in the rules: The punter is to have ten instead of six feet as heretofore, rule 7; It is impossible for a player to be offside in his own goal, rule 16; Rules 12 to 17, inclusive, were moved back one and a new rule (17) was inserted, "A player may be off-side but twice during a game." "The referee shall be an alumnus," was added to rule 18; words "from whom" to "play" were left out from rule 19, and "violation of rule 17" inserted together with "shall disqualify a man for being warned three times for intentionally delaying the game." The last clause of rule 27 was omitted and a touchdown is hereafter to count 4, and a safety 2. In rule 35, words "or when" to "or in" were omitted and the words "is put in play by touching the ground" inserted after "ball," the phrase "touches the ground" being omitted. The word "intentionally" in rule 38, was omitted. No vote was taken on the question of re-instating Columbia. The meeting then adjourned.
