PROFESSOR SOPHOCLES' FUNERAL

The funeral of Professor Sophocles occurred yesterday afternoon at halfpast one, in Appleton Chapel. In spite of the storm there was a considerable number of people present, including many of the officers of the university and a large number of students. Appropriate music was furnished by the choir and by a quartette consisting of Messrs. McCagg, Eliot, Howe and Easton. Rev. Dr. Peabody officiated.-The pall bearers were President Eliot, and Professors Bown, Torrey, Lane and Goodwin, The remains were taken to Mt. Auburn for interment.
