THAT COLUMBIA GAME.

Weclip the following from the Columbia Spectator:- Columbia is still in a broil with Princeton and Harvrd with regard to foot-ball matters. it will be remembered that Princeton and /Columbia were to have played at the Polo grounds on November 10th, and that the game was postponed until the following Monday, with the stipulation, that Columbia should have all the gate-money, after deducting the cost of Princeton's trip to New York. The game was to have been played at Princeton, but Columbia forfeited it by a non0appearance. Princeton now demands $131.14 as the sum of the expenses incurred by her team's coming to New York. The foot-ball Directors held a meeting Monday afternoon, Dec. 3, 1383, at which meeting it was resolved that Columbia refuels to pay this demand of Princeton, as being exorbitant, one item being expenses of twenty-two men from Princeton to New York and return. At the same meeting a demand from Harvard for $50 to pay for advertising the Columbia-Harvrd game was presented to the Directors. It was resolved that this demand also be not acceded to. When the Harvard faculty took their action with regard to foot ball, the captain of the Columbia football, the captain of the Columbia football team wrote, inquiring whether the scheduled game between Columbia and Harvard should be played. Answer was returned that either the game should be played or that Columbia should pay the advertising expenses already incurred. The game was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24th, and on the Fridays preceding, the captain of the Columbia team telegraphed to Harvard asking whether they should come. No answer was returned until the following Monday. Inasmuch as Harvard made no reply until after the time for the game had passed, and inasmuch as Colubia's team was ready to play the Directors think themselves justified in refusing to acknowledge any claim set forward by Harvard.
