The standing committee of the electors met on Thursday afternoon of last week, and counted the ballots received for candidates for the election of overseers, which takes place on commencement day, with the following result :

Whole number of ballots received 1383

Leverett Salstonstall, class of 1844, had 952

Moorfield Storey, class of 1866 872

Charles F. Adams, Jr., class of 1856 720

Samuel A. Green, class of 1851 614

William G. Russell, class of 1840 518

James C. Carter, class of 1850 457

Henry Cabot Lodge, class of 1871 455

Francis M. Weld, class of 1860 404

Horace A. Furness, class of 1854 388

Solomon Lincoln, class of 1857 269

Frederick L. Ames, class of 1854 255

Samuel Hoar, class of 1867 246

William R. Huntington, class of 1859 241

Francis W. Palfrey, class of 1851 235

The foregoing fourteen names are therefore announced as those of candidates selected by the electors for the seven vacancies to be filled on commencement day. Of these vacancies five are for the full term of six years and two for the unexpired term of one year, caused by the resigtion of Professors Holmes and Peabody.
