ATHLETIC MEETING, '83 AND '85.

In spite of threatening weather, the sports were held on Jarvis at 4 P. M. yesterday.

The first event was the 100-yards for '85. A. S. Johnson won in 11 seconds, with F. S. Billings second, one foot behind.

Quarter-mile run, '85. - C. A. Atkinson easily held the lead throughout, with J. M. Carnochan and P. L. Livingston struggling for second place. Won by Atkinson. Time, 59 1/4 seconds. Livingston second.

220-yards dash, '83. - W. Soren won easily in 24 1/2 seconds, with Geo. Cary second.

Half-mile run, '85. - F. S. Taylor kept the lead and won without difficulty in 2 min. 20 1/2 sec., R. F. Simes and H. G. Wilshire running a tie.

The 100-yards dash, '83, between Soren and Mitchell was a very pretty run, won by Soren in 10 5/8 seconds.

The 220-yards run was won by 30 feet by M. L. Bradford over J. Codman in 24 3/4 seconds.

Half-mile run, '83, was won by W. N. Page; D. I. Mackie following in his steps throughout the whole distance, but losing on the final spurt. Time 2 min. 28 1/2 sec.

The last event was the quarter-mile for '83, between G. Cary and W. Soren. Cary led from the start and increased the lead until he crossed the line. Time 56 1/4 sec.

H. G. Wilshire, '85, having withdrawn, W. R. Trask will not run until Saturday.

The running high jump, '83, between W. Soren and A. C. Denniston, will be decided on Saturday at the university sports, as well as all the single entrances.

The attendance was poor, owing to the raw state of the weather.
