BASE BALL.

The Bostons and Harvards played their first game together on the Boston grounds Saturday afternoon. The attendance numbered six hundred, a large part of whom were students. The Harvards outbatted the Bostons, while fielding honors were about even. Burdock and Morrill led the fielding for the Bostons, the former making a brilliant running catch at second. Coolidge and Le Moyne led the fielding for the Harvards.

At the opening of the game the Bostons made three runs; heavy batting gave them four more runs in the third inning. In the fourth inning the Harvards commenced batting Mathews, and piled up the runs until at the beginning of the ninth the score was a tie, 7 to 7. In the ninth the Harvards were quickly retired; Wise and Morrill were soon put out, and Hornung then hit a sharp ball to Lovering, who fumbled it; Hornung then went to third on a passed ball by Nichols and was brought home by a base-hit by Burdock, winning the game. The freshmen played a game with a "scrub" nine last Saturday and defeated them by a score of 13 to 10. Their playing was very loose. Winslow pitched well for the freshmen. They will probably play again with another nine picked from the college on next Saturday.
