I. An account of some of the aspects of Greek private life suggested and illustrated by the "Frogs" of Aristophanes.
II. Illustrations of the subject-matter of the "Persians" of Aeschylus to be found in the history of Herodotus, with special consideration of points of disagreement.
III. The use of metaphor in the "OEdipus Tyrannus" and in the "Antigone" of Sophocles, with parallels from Shakespeare.
IV. An account of the life and writings, - with original prose or poetic translation of striking passages, - of any one of the Greek poets named in Buchholz's "Anthologie aus den Lyrikern der Griechen."
