After a long and uproarious meeting, the following officers were elected by the class of '87. Temporary chairman, G. H. Higginson of Boston, (St. Marks) ; temporary secretary, W. B. Scoffield, of Worcester, (Adams) ; president, F. S. Coolidge, of Boston, (Hopkinson's) ; vice-president, J. L Snelling, of Boston, (Hopkinson's) secretary, W. B. Scoffield, Worcester, (Adams) ; captain of the crew, G. S. Mumford, of Rochester. N. Y., (St Paul's) ; captain of the eleven, A. Cochrane, of Boston, (Andover) ; captain of the nine, C. E. Loud ; of Weymouth, (Adams) ; G. H. Higginson, of Boston (St. Marks,) ; treasurer of class. Mr. Perkins, '84, captain of the university crew addressed the meeting, urging that the election of the captains be made temporary, which suggestion was adopted. Mr. Marquand, '85, advised the class to elect a captain of the freshman lacrosse team. Mr. E. S. Abbott, of Cambridge, was elected captain of the team.
