2. Yes, the Harvard Glee Club has plenty of first tenors and second basses; it also has some second tenors and first basses, and it tried to get a jodler, but it did not go to Baltimore and Philadelphia.

3. Tell me, if you please (s'il vous plait), why? Are they not nice young men?

4. O, well, they received a note (billet) from somebody.

5. Why did somebody send the note to the nice young men?

6. Because Somebody Else and some other people said that it was "unbecoming the dignity of Harvard" for the nice young men with the sweet voices to sing in public.

7. You astound me! Do not other organizations of the College appear in public?

8. O, yes, but that is different, you know.

9. Poor young men, how they must have wept!

10. You are wrong (vous avez tort); they did not weep, but they felt pretty badly. Now bring me my long yellow coat with the red checks, and my arctics; I am going to walk.
