ATHLETIC MEETINGS.

LAST Monday the annual meeting of the University Boat Club was held in Holden Chapel; the president of the club, Mr. Weld of '76, was in the chair. After the reading of the secretary's report of the contests at Springfield and Saratoga, the election of the executive committee for the coming year was in order. Mr. Bancroft proposed the following ticket, which had been agreed upon by the committee of last year: for President, W. F. Weld, '76; Vice-President, H. G. Danforth, '77; Secretary, A. M. Sherwood, '78; Assistant Treasurer, H. J. Harwood, '77. There was no opposition, and the elections were unanimous. The treasurer's report for last year was not read, but the ex-assistant treasurer stated that the debt of the club had been increased about $1,200 during the past year, and that it would require $4,000 to pay off the debt and support the crew for '76-'79. Last year was necessarily a very expensive one. To the large amount of money (about $2,000) paid for new boats was added the expense of keeping the crew for weeks at a training-table while still in Cambridge. The receipts from college subscriptions were about the same as in former years, but there was less than half the usual amount received from theatricals. Altogether the financial condition of the H. U. B. C. is fairly satisfactory, when the extra exertions of last year are remembered.

H.U.B.B.C.THE Nine held a meeting last Friday, and re-elected the officers of last year: H. C. Ernst, President; F. W. Thayer, Captain; W. Mason, Treasurer; A. H. Latham, Secretary. It was decided to play a few games this autumn, if possible, and practise daily on the Common. Work in the gymnasium will begin as soon as the weather is too cold for outdoor playing, and will continue all winter. It looks now as if the Nine will lose but one of their old men. The batting averages and fielding record for '75-'76 are as follows:-

H. U. F. B. C.A MEETING of the Foot-Ball Club was held in Upper Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon. The following officers were elected for the next year: G. P. Faucon, 75, President; H. C. Leeds, '77, Vice-President; Sigourney Butler, '77, Secretary; W. E. Russell, '77, Treasurer. W. A. Whiting, '77, was re-elected Captain of the Eleven. A challenge from Toronto, Canada, was read, and its acceptance is now under consideration.

It was voted to send challenges to various other college clubs, and we may reasonably expect to witness this fall some fine games with Yale, Columbia, Tufts, and perhaps Princeton. The outlook for the Foot-Ball Team is excellent, and the great reputation it has won in the last four years is not at all likely to suffer now.
