THRICE palatable fruit of malt and hop!
And would thy sale our legislature stop?
Lo! to thy memory I sadly drop A tear.
Nectarian draught, by priggish lips traduced!
The bonds that bound us, brotherly, are loosed.
Ah! student life will not be what it used, I fear.
When dusky shadows nightly close around,
To shun his little heaven, underground,

Nor beer, nor sandwich, when for breakfast late;
No modest quencher after dry debate;
Sausage tabooed, and pretzel; - 't is a fate Severe.

From wicked language at this law inane.

Yet we can only in petition kneel,
And meekly, humbly pray for its repeal Next year.
