8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
With the approach of the dormitory crew races, which will begin Tuesday, and end on Thursday, the crews are all putting in the final work of preparation, by practicing short sprints at a high stroke and racing starts. Of the dozen crews now on the river, there are three eights which stand out conspicuously as showing the best rowing form. Two of these crews, Claverly and Randolph, have been developed under Coach Brown at the Weld boathouse. There is little to choose between these two boats.
Mt. Auburn street is undoubtedly the best of the crews rowing under Coach Stephenson's direction at the Newell boathouse. Although the work of the eight is rather ragged at times, there is much power in the boat, and the men drive the shell along at good speed. It has been decided by Captain Cutler of the University crew that the final scratch race in the Basin on Thursday will be held over a mile and one-quarter course, instead of a mile and one-half as formerly planned.
